James Bond, a lawyer from Vancouver, met with lawyers from the area to get their opinions on how things are working here.
A lack of judges
“I think that generally speaking provincial courts at the provincial level, there is a problem across the province with a lack of judges currently,” said Bond.
“I think it’s more pronounced here than in other areas. I think you guys are somewhat worse off than fellow British Columbians.”
Marijuana church lawyer disputes Crown’s definition of a religion
By: Charles Lewis , Published National PostConclusions about the authenticity of the Church of the Universe reached by the Crown’s expert witness would have been laughed at by fellow academics and would never have been written by a respectable scholar, a lawyer for the church told the Ontario Superior Court on Tuesday.
“No respectable scholar would make a conclusion without speaking to a single member of the group [being assessed],” defense lawyer George Filipovic said to Katherine Young, a professor of religion at McGill University, during cross-examination.
“Yet you determined the Church of the Universe is not a religion by only reading their web site. Academics would laugh at you.”
N.S. must pay for woman's medical marijuana, judge rules

In a decision released this afternoon, the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia has ordered the Department of Community Services to pay for Sally Campbell's prescription pot.
She suffers from a number of ailments and has a certificate from Health Canada giving her permission to use marijuana to help alleviate her pain and nausea.
The province had denied Campbell's request that it increase her monthly allowance to cover the cost of the marijuana. Campbell appealed that decision to a one-person appeal board, which also denied her request.
